By the time we were done with lunch, it was almost 3pm, which is pretty late to head to the zoo (we never do that in New York!), but hey, the day is long in Copenhagen, so we stuck to our plan, and hopped on the bus and head to the zoo!
The zoo was very nice. Not as big as the Bronx Zoo so it's not overwhelming. We did rent a little wagon to carry around the kids (Mio looks really mad in the picture - she was pretty tired and annoyed that I was taking pictures). I thought that some of the buildings that the animals were housed in were very nice. Among them was the Elephant House, which was designed by a world famous architect, Norman Foster. When we were there, the elephants were playing outside, and it was great to see the elephants so close!
My favorite were the giraffes. Fortunately, this time the giraffes were IN the house, and we could see them up close again! They are so beautiful... I could sit there for a long time just watching them. I also liked the building, which had a nice wooden wall - I don't think I've ever seen an animal house like this in a zoo.
When we were finally done, it was dinner time (of course it's still very light, it feels like 4pm). We were getting hungry, and then we heard the live music. Yes, we caught yet another jazz performance as part of the Jazz Festival - at the zoo! It was at the restaurant in the zoo, and they were serving grilled meat (sausage, veal, pork and chicken) with self-serve salads, so we decided to eat there. The food was not bad at all (for a zoo), and the music was great. So overall, it was a great trip to the zoo.
Looks like so much fun! I laughed so hard at the photo of Mio looking all mad! Sounds like you guys are having such a great time!
