Today, we went to Ørstedsparken, a park in central Copenhagen. I decided to go there because I read that it has one of the best playgrounds in the city. I entered the park, and I was pleasantly surprised to find such a beautiful park (again, I only had my iphone to take pictures with, so the photo doesn't do justice...). The park is not very big, but it has a big elongated lake in the middle of the park. I later learned that the lake used to be a section of the moat as part of the fortification of Copenhagen in the 17th century.
The park had two playgrounds. We went to both... The first one was smaller, but had a cafe. We brought lunch so we ate our lunch in the playground. Then we went to the other one, which was much bigger. It not only had a nice playground, with sandboxes, swings, and slides, but it also had so many fun riding toys from scooters to tricycles to things I don't even know what they're called... So the kids had fun trying out different bikes.
But then, it started raining. It was light rain in the beginning, so all the kids continued to play in the rain, but then it started pouring!! Not as bad as the down pour we experienced the other night at the restaurant (thank god!), but it rained pretty hard. We took shelter in the little toy house (fortunately I was able to fit in, but I couldn't stand). Fortunately, there were all sorts of sand toys in the house, so they kept the kids busy for a while, but playing with sand in the pouring rain was MESSY!! Yuto's face was covered with sand, their clothes still got all wet, and my white pants were...(don't even want to talk about it...)
The rain lasted for a while. I think we were in the house for at least an hour. Then it started to look like it was clearing up, and Mio was starting get cold, so we decided to take the risk and head back home. We looked for a taxi but we couldn't find any, so we walked to the bus stop. There was one last rain fall, so we got caught in the rain again, but we made it to the bus and were on our way home. By the time we got to our stop, it was sunny. We did a little grocery shopping and then went to yet another park near our apartment, and when we got home, they played in the little playground in the courtyard. FOUR parks in a day is a record for me...
Nami! what beautiful photos you take...even with your iphone! I laughed so hard when you said you took shelter in the play house! Sounds like you're being really adventurous!
ReplyDeleteThanks Janet, I like how the photos in the rain came out, too. :)
