While the weather forecast was predicting rain, it actually turned out to be a pretty beautiful day.
So we went to the city center, and first had lunch outside. We shared a brunch plate (shown in picture below) and a tuna sandwich. The tuna sandwich was a disappointment as the bread came burnt (thus no picture). But the brunch plate was pretty nice - it came with a few kinds of cheeses, a smoothie, yogurt with fresh raspberry sauce, a muffin, and some fruit and a salad.
After lunch, we just walked along Stroget (a long pedestrian street with a lot of shops). We went into the Royal Copenhagen store, as my mom was looking for a few replacements for the set she has back home. Unfortunately, she couldn't find what she was looking for, but the store was beautiful. They also have a cafe there where they serve everything in Royal Copenhagen tableware (of course!), and we wanted to go there but they didn't have a table available. We hope to go back there for tea or something...
After that we went to Ilum, one of the biggest department stores in Scandinavia. We went to the children's floor, and Mio and Yuto were very happy because they could play in the toy section, which had so many wonderful toys. I was happy too as I had my mom with me, so I could leave the kids with her while I went shopping on my own. I finally got Mio a rain jacket, and I bought some clothes for Yuto. I could spend a fortune there, but things are expensive in Denmark, if you are from out of the country. That is because the prices include a 25% tax, which is apparently one of the highest taxes in the world! If you shop at a "tax-free" shopping place and spend a certain amount, however, you get a tax refund of up to 19% of your purchase. Illum, if one of such places, so hopefully I will get some money back at the airport when I depart...
